Plantefonden supports two new Kost Studio projects promoting plant-based foods
Kost Studio and our partners have great reasons to celebrate today! It was just announced that two projects promoting plant-based foods that we are running will receive funding from Plantefonden.
The foundation, which is managed by the Danish Agricultural Agency, was created to support initiatives promoting plant-based production and consumption, hereby reducing the environmental footprint of Danish agriculture.
"We are thrilled about this support! The projects are designed to bridge knowledge and innovation, which we firmly believe is how to create sustainable change", says Louise Beck Brønnum, Partner and Gastrophysicist at Kost Studio.
The first project, named "Økologisk Planteudvikling" (Organic Plant Development), is led by Kost Studio and will integrate consumer testing in the development phase of producing new plant-based foods. This collaboration with the University of Copenhagen will involve master students through experimental development of tasty, plant-based products.
"We're only scratching the surface in creating plant-based products, and there's a need for a deep dive into the potentials that different plants hold," says Asmus Gamdrup, Food Historian at Kost Studio. "This project offers a great opportunity to enhance our understanding and ultimately create flavorful products that people will enjoy."
The second project, led by Smagens Dag, an organization dedicated to improving food education in Danish elementary schools, will expand teaching materials on the environmental aspects of food. This initiative aims to inspire children to experiment and enhance their skills in preparing plant-based meals and goes by the name “Plantedannelse”.
"We are very grateful for the support from Plantefonden in this first round of grants and eagerly anticipate starting these projects in early 2024."
The project Økologisk Planteudvikling has received 1,2M DKK from Plantefonden, and Plantedannelse has received 1,7M DKK from Plantefonden.
