And below, you can read the fascinating story of why we named it Heerings Gaard.
When Peter Frederik Heering bought a farm on Christianshavn in Copenhagen in 1838, he named it Heerings Gaard. Ambitions were high. The following century, the Heering family built an impressive empire based on a secret recipe for a sour cherry liquor. From Heering's own shipping company, ships were sent to sail the cherry liquor round the world during the 19th and 20th century.
The bottles soon rose to fame. When bartender Ngiam Tong Boon created the world famous longdrink Singapore Sling at the Raffles Hotel in Singapore in 1915, it was based on Cherry Heerings liquor.
And when the newly crowned King Charles of Great Britain was caught ordering a glass of liquor at the age of 14, in 1963, it was soon discovered he had ordered a glass of Cherry Heering.
The cherry liquor was produced at the facilities on Christianshavn and aged for three years in huge oak-barrels until around World War 2. The barrels were built on-site at the farm on Christianshavn. It is one of these century-old barrels that is the basis of Kost Studio and EtOh's new spirit Heerings Gaard, creating a truly unique taste of history.
